He's so smart...
...and adorable and lovable and silly and....
Tristan, my 2-year-old son, is demonstrating his intelligence this morning. While Scott (my fiance - though we consider ourselves married anyway since we've been together for four years) and I go through our morning ritual of getting ready for work, Tristan eats his breakfast and watches PBS morning shows. Depending on how early he wakes up, this includes Clifford: The Big Red Dog, Super Why, and Dragontales. Generally, he has a enough time to watch one show and half of another. Right now he is watching Super Why. For those of you who don't know, Super Why is a group of super kids with various powers related to reading. Alpha Pig has alphabet power, Wonder Red has word power, Princess Presto has spelling power, and Super Why has the power to read (and change the story). Generally, one of these four characters has a "super" big problem. "And a super big problem requires the Super Readers". They all immerse themselves in a book (literally jumping into the story and action). Usually, they are simple children's tales and/or nusery rhymes. Today's story: Miss Muffett. So, through figuring out the problem in the story, adding a few words to spell or letters to say here and there, they solve the problem. Which helps them solve their "real" world problem. Check out www.pbskids.org and look up Super Why. It's an adorable show for toddlers and preschoolers.
Now, my intelligent son...
Tristan loves this show. He repeats most of the letters back when they are spelling and he'll attempt to read the letters of some of the words on screen (when they aren't being specifically pointed out). Just last night, we went through the whole alphabet and he repeated every letter after me. It was touch and go with "w" but otherwise, he got all the letters pronounced correctly. He doesn't have them memorized yet (in order). He'll sing the ABC song, but after C it goes every which way. Who knew that L came after C?
Well, I need to finish getting ready for work.
To Be Continued...
